A bit about me...

After we sold our family business in the construction industry, where I’d been managing the office, accounts and administration support I was out of a job for the first time – ever! I decided to take a break and explore the world for a few years.

When I came back home it seemed like a good idea to formalise all my experience so I went to EIT and graduated three  years later with a Bachelor of Business Studies (Accounting) degree. Going back in to the workforce, I started with what I knew best – business admin and accounts. I went to a full-time job and when an old workmate needed a hand with a charitable trust to get their office systems and bookkeeping etc. in order, I took that on as well.

After finishing the full-time role, providing an independent administration service seemed like a natural progression. So, there I was, in my own new business with one client!  Admittedly it was a bit strange working from home initially, and being on my own, but my client base grew. With referrals from people I knew, I started spending time in my clients’ offices as well, managing and operating their administration systems – becoming one of their team.

Five years on, I've found the magic in all of this is seeing how I can help a business to operate more efficiently. In some cases this has been coming back from the brink of failure. It is a great reward seeing the results they can achieve, with great admin and accounts processes, and with regular reporting to help them stay on top of their numbers.

These days, people in my kind of business are also working as virtual assistants, offering virtual admin support via Zoom and bookkeeping services via cloud-based platforms like Xero, all around New Zealand and the world.
